Job summary

FOREST MIDDLE in Forest, Virginia seeks a Middle School Softball Coach to oversee the program and coordinate with the Assistant Coach under the Athletic Director.

This part-time role offers collaboration with staff and opportunities to engage with summer camps and clinics to build a strong community program.

Responsibilities

• Foster among participants and spectators an appreciation of athletics values, sportsmanship, pride in self, team, school, and community.
• Support the training, conditioning, and performance of the softball program.
• Demonstrate knowledge of strength and conditioning programs for softball and execute off-season conditioning per VHSL rules.
• Emphasize academic excellence and assist in maintaining high academic standards for softball program members.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of VHSL rules.
• Promote the program within the school and community.
• Work cooperatively with other athletic coaches to operate a well-balanced athletic program.
• Collaborate with Head Varsity Coach and Athletic Director in preparing team schedules.
• Provide for inventory and care of equipment.
• Ensure athletes have medical examinations and other required qualifications before participation.
• Assist athletic director to ensure lists of eligible players for contests are prepared under VHSL rules.
• Engage with parents of team members positively and constructively.
• Develop relationships with local middle school athletes and establish a presence via summer camps and coaching clinics with the Varsity Coach.
• Perform other duties as requested by varsity coach, school principal, and athletic director.
