The University of Denver invites applications for adjunct faculty in the Center for World Languages and Cultures to teach first-year language courses (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish) in Denver, CO. This is a part-time adjunct pool for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Courses run 10 weeks, with classes 4 x 50 minutes weekly, on Mon-Thu. Teaching load ranges 1–3 sections per quarter, up to 6 sections annually.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or ABD in language to be taught, in Second Language Acquisition, or in Education.
• Native or near-native fluency in language to be taught and English.
• 1-2 years of teaching experience in the United States.
• Commitment to engaging diverse student populations with inclusive pedagogy.
• Experience with task-based, communicative teaching methods.
• Experience or willingness to learn Canvas or other LMS.
• Availability to teach face-to-face in University classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Teach 4 credit-courses for the first-year language program (1001, 1002, 1003).
• Deliver 10-week courses with 4 sessions of 50 minutes each per week.
• Create lesson plans and hold weekly office hours (on campus or via Zoom).
• Collaborate on assessment creation and evaluate homework, quizzes, and exams.
• Participate in group meetings and training with program coordinators.
