Job summary

St. Joseph County in Indiana seeks a part-time Laboratory Assistant for the Adult Probation – CSAP Division. The role supports specimen handling, paperwork, and test result distribution, with duties that include payment processing and record reconciliation.

Open to individuals able to work 5:30 pm–7:00 pm weekdays and 9:00 am–Noon Saturdays. High school diploma or GED required; specimen collection experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard office and laboratory practices.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to work in a team and multitask under time pressure.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Process clients’ paperwork, issue IDs, and generate consent forms for drug test results.
• Oversee specimen collection and manage the specimen window and samples.
• Receive and verify drug testing payments and reconcile with computer reports.
• Perform routine duties per department procedures and report errors to supervision.
• Maintain frequent contact with coworkers, clients, and other departments to coordinate operations.
