Job summary

Toast & Table in Illinois is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to help run our cooking classes. The role focuses on setup, class support, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace in a friendly culinary setting.

Evening shifts (4:30 PM–9:00 PM) on Thursdays to Saturdays with occasional extra shifts; no formal culinary training required, just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to follow food safety practices.

Qualifications

• Passion for cooking or interest in culinary arts (formal training not required).
• Comfortable working in a kitchen environment and able to follow food safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the class instructor.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to handle evening shifts.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time efficiently.
• Prior experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or similar role is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up the kitchen classroom, including prepping ingredients, arranging tools, and ensuring all equipment is clean and ready.
• Assist the instructor during cooking classes by replenishing ingredients, managing tools, and providing support as needed.
• Help maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the class.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment during and after classes.
• Ensure all kitchen tools and supplies are restocked and stored properly post-class.
