• Teach proper keyboard technique, hand positioning, posture, fingering, and practice habits.
• Foster a Christ-centered, encouraging learning environment.
• Prepare students for recitals and performance events.
• Follow SRMA policies, safety procedures, and code of conduct.

The Keyboard Music Instructor provides high-quality, individualized keyboard instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels, creating engaging lessons that develop proper technique, music theory, and the ability to read and interpret sheet music while inspiring a genuine love for music that glorifies God. As a representative of a Christian-based music school, the instructor is expected to model integrity, patience, encouragement, and a servant’s heart while helping students reach their full musical potential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate keyboard lessons to each student's current skill level, learning pace, and musical goals.
• Develop structured lesson plans and curriculum aligned with Solid Rock Music Academy's program standards and Christian values.
• Teach proper keyboard technique, hand positioning, posture, fingering, and practice habits to support long-term musical development.
• Foster a Christ-centered, encouraging, and respectful learning environment that motivates students to pursue musical excellence.
• Prepare students for SRMA recitals, showcases, performance events, and other academy milestones.
• Follow all SRMA policies, safety procedures, and code of conduct at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated proficiency in playing keyboard and/or piano, with the ability to perform and model techniques at various skill levels.
• Ability to read sheet music and proficiently interpret music notation across a range of styles and difficulty levels.
• Prior experience teaching keyboard, piano, or a related instrument to children, youth, or adults is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• No formal music degree or diploma required; what matters most is a solid working knowledge of keyboard/piano and the skills and ability to effectively teach music to students of all ages.

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Completion of SRMA instructor orientation and any required safety training before beginning instruction.
• Completion of Live Scan fingerprint check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit for extended periods while instructing students at the keyboard.
• Ability to demonstrate keyboard techniques with hands and fingers.
• Ability to speak, listen, and communicate effectively in a lesson setting.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move within the classroom as needed.
• Ability to process written, visual, and verbal information.
• Ability to lift and carry instructional materials, books, or equipment up to 20 lbs. as needed.
