VCA Animal Hospitals in Beaverton, OR is seeking a kennel assistant to help keep the hospital clean and to support our certified veterinary technicians with daily care of hospitalized patients. The role is for 15-28 hours per week.

If you love animals and can work weekends and holidays, you may thrive here. You should be comfortable around barking dogs and able to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods. Benefits offered.

Job description

We are looking for a kennel assistant to help with the cleanliness of the hospital. Another important part of the job is assisting our certified veterinary technicians with the day to day handling and care of our hospitalized patients. As a Fear Free certified hospital we are looking for an individual as passionate about the cause as we are. We are looking for someone that can work 15-28 hours per week.

Experience Requirements

Animal care background is desirable, but not required.

Personal Requirements

• Cleaning and stocking the hospital is a big part of the job.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• Can work unaffected in an environment where dogs are barking.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays to be considered for an animal care attendant position.
• Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals and food bags (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 50 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.
• Has a strong work ethic and is always looking for the next project to ensure the care of the animals is always seen to. Regular attendance is a must.
• Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.
