Job summary

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, hazardous materials, chemicals, anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and odors
• Strenuous job requiring lifting, cleaning, and constant motion
• Standing/walking for long periods may be required
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be involved
• Lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds) may occur

Responsibilities

• Feeds animals as prescribed by the attending Veterinarian or owner; records appetites, water intake, fecal and urine production
• Recognizes and reports unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors; monitors pets for distress or disease
• Assists Veterinarians and technicians with pet restraint
• Maintains hospital cleanliness; cleans equipment and facilities; handles chemicals safely
• Cleans cages, runs, wards; sanitizes areas regularly
• Completes weekly/monthly chore list to maintain cleanliness and appearance
• Prioritizes tasks appropriately
• Maintains kennel and hospital laundry
• Provides patients with fresh bedding
• Walks patients according to schedule
• Follows written and oral directions
• Performs other duties as assigned by Manager
• Remains professional to clients and coworkers amidst interruptions
• Learns and communicates services and health recommendations to clients
• Deals with difficult/ aggressive patients safely
• Other duties as assigned by Manager
