Job summary

Minnehaha County Juvenile Detention Center is seeking part-time Juvenile Correctional Workers to supervise, guide, and care for juveniles detained by the courts. Flexible shifts may include days, evenings, and overnights as part of a collaborative team serving the community.

Training will cover communication, de-escalation, Safe Crisis Management, and report writing to support youth safety and professional growth within corrections and law enforcement settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor juveniles during daily activities (education, meals, hygiene, recreation, visitations, phone calls).
• Complete incident reports, daily logs, admissions, releases, and behavioral observations.
• Plan and lead recreational/leisure activities; ensure safety during programs and classroom tasks.
• Assist with food preparation, housekeeping, and facility operations (cleaning, laundry).
• Transport youth to appointments and court appearances as assigned.
