Job summary

Hutchinson Community College seeks a part-time English instructor to teach courses in Composition I and II and possibly transfer and developmental writing. The position may include evening courses and teaching via Zoom/ ITV, with travel to local outreach locations as needed.

Responsibilities include planning activities, updating curricula, maintaining records, and submitting grades promptly. Candidates should be prepared to work with diverse student populations and adhere to HutchCC policies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English is required or a Master’s degree in another field may be considered with an additional 18 graduate credits in English.
• College teaching experience preferred.
• Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.
• Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.
• Physical and mental qualifications may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by department chairperson or administrators.

• Assignmentsmayincludeface-to-faceteaching at variouslocalhigh school locations and travel toMcPherson and/orNewtonOutreachlocations. High school semesters may extend beyond theHutchCCacademic calendar.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is based on the part-time faculty compensation plan.This part-time position isnot benefiteligible; exempt.
