Job summary

Woodland Elementary School in Radcliff, Kentucky is seeking an Instructional Assistant I for a part-time role funded by ESS. You will support a certified teacher with individual or small-group instruction and monitor student progress; you may assist in health and safety tasks and classroom activities.

Starting date is immediate. Salary ranges from $16.91 to $26.26 per district salary schedule; days and times may vary, with funding end date dependent on budget. This is a part-time position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; progress toward GED allowed per Kentucky law.
• Two years of college or an associate degree or demonstrated equivalence.
• Ability to instruct reading, writing and mathematics as appropriate.
• Some experience working with children in organized settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated teacher by instruction to individuals or small groups and monitor progress.
• Administer first aid and medications per policy.
• Assist teacher with crisis intervention and physical restraints of students.
• Assist students with personal hygiene needs: toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.
• Tutor individuals or small groups, maintain records of student progress.
• Participate as member of an instructional team including remediation teams.
• Prepare and organize lessons; administer and score tests; assist in determining English proficiency.
• Assist in administering diagnostic tests; score and record test information.
• Monitor and report behavior of students; check and assist with lab work as necessary.
• Perform routine clerical duties; operate copy machines; maintain records and attendance.
• Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays, equipment, and distributing supplies.
• Assist in overseeing students in labs; manage supplies inventory as necessary.
• Assist students by providing examples, emotional support, and general guidance.
• Confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
• Contact parents of absent students; make home visits as necessary.
• Assure health and safety of students by following health practices and regulations.
• Direct group activities; monitor lunchroom and playground; assist in drills and field trips.
• Participate in meetings and in-service training programs; perform related duties.
