Job summary

Housing Authority of the County of Jackson, Illinois (JCHA) is seeking a part-time Inspector to inspect units under HQS and INSPIRE guidelines. The role is 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m., with wage range of $17.50 to $18.50 per hour and vacation time accrual. The Inspector will read and enforce program rules for HCV and public housing inspections, assist with rent reasonableness determinations, and support move-out inspections as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience as a housing inspector, code inspector, property manager, or similar.
• NSPIRE or related certification preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Inspect units per HQS and INSPIRE guidelines.
• Coordinate inspection notifications with landlords and participants.
• Determine rent reasonableness in compliance with HUD policies.
• Investigate complaints affecting health and safety at properties.
• Move-out inspections and support other housing inspections as needed.
