POSITION (Title): Housekeeping Aide – Perioperative Services

DEPARTMENT/SERVICE AREA: Nursing

SITE:

REPORTS TO (Title): Director, Nursing

The Nursing department has an opening for a Part-Time Housekeeping Aide – Perioperative Services. The successful candidate must meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  • Grade 10 education or equivalent acceptable to the Employer
  • Must be cooperative, conscientious, reliable, and have good interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; read, write, add, and subtract
  • Knowledge of and/or adaptability to cleaning procedures, compounds, and supplies used to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment
  • Dependable, competent, and able to carry out responsibilities consistently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to function independently, within a team, with front-line personnel, and management
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills, including multitasking and prioritizing workload
  • Acceptable attendance record
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position regularly

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform cleaning duties in assigned areas
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, window sills, etc.
  • Dust mop all floors in assigned areas
  • Wet mop bathroom floors
  • Clean wash basins, sinks, commodes, tubs, and showers
  • Polish chrome fixtures
  • Empty and wash waste cans
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, hand sanitizers, and soap
  • Wash and polish mirrors
  • Replenish supplies in male and female locker rooms
  • Assist with storing supplies

CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:

  • This position may require working eight (8) hour shifts: days, evenings, nights, and weekends
