CAPAA Musical Theatre Instructor – Drama

The Musical Theatre instructor is a key instructional role for the Musical Theatre track at Oldham County's Creative And Performing Arts Academy. The instructor will teach a variety of drama courses, including monologues, group pieces, and ensemble showcases. Candidates must have strong executive functioning skills, excellent classroom management experience working with high school students, and the ability to teach all levels of drama. A background in dramatic history is a plus. The role is part-time, 5–10 hours per week. Faculty at CAPAA value student success, curriculum innovation, and maintaining high standards for themselves and their students.

Responsibilities

• Embrace and promote CAPAA’s vision, mission, educational approach, goals, and core values
• Support students during studio time, daily lessons, classroom setup, and related activities
• Structure lessons that encourage and foster skill development, critical thinking, application, and ethics
• Instruct courses for students with various learning styles, abilities, and needs
• Employ classroom‑management skills and implement the school code of conduct
• Assist in assessing student achievement, skill mastery, and career‑development skills
• Collaborate with faculty and department heads to ensure students’ overall success at CAPAA
• Attend department and faculty meetings, parent conferences, open houses, and perform occasional supervisory duties as needed

Requirements

• Enjoy working with teenagers
• Demonstrated professional specialization in drama/acting
• Prior experience teaching high school students strongly preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent classroom‑management ability
• Positive, energetic, and engaged educator or performer who will recruit and be a fully engaged member of the department
