Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or equivalent).
• One year of California state service clerical experience in procurement and processing of health data.
• Two years of clerical experience in the medical or health records section of a health facility; substitution by an accredited medical records program may apply.
• To obtain list eligibility for Health Record Technician I, you must take and pass the CalCareers examination.

Responsibilities

• Process Release of Information (ROI) requests and maintain ROI logs.
• Sort, prep, and scan patient documents as part of health information workflows.
• Adhere to CDCR/CCHCS policies and local operating procedures in handling health records.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

ACademic curriculum in medical records science (substitution for experience)
