Job summary

The Town of Marblehead is seeking a Part-Time Grounds Maintenance worker to perform parks maintenance on municipal and school properties under the Recreation & Parks Department.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, operating equipment safely, cleaning and maintaining grounds, restrooms, and related tasks; teamwork with town staff and the public; and adapting to changing duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance or outdoor custodial work.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
• Willingness to perform manual tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate mowing, trimming, and air-blowing equipment safely.
• Perform cleaning, weed control, painting, and other ground maintenance tasks.

Job description

SUMMARY

This Part-Time Grounds Maintenance position is responsible for performing parks maintenance-related functions and work on municipal and school properties. The person in this position carries out assignments and completes tasks within the organizational structure of the Recreation & Parks Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Mow and trim municipal and school grounds under the direction of the Recreation & Park’s Foreman.
• Operate mowing, trimming, and air-blowing equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform manual tasks, including cleaning equipment, weeding plant beds, painting, cutting brush, and other ground maintenance-related functions as needed.
• Perform additional responsibilities, including trash pick-up; cleaning, deodorizing, and sanitizing park restrooms: basins, stools, urinals; graffiti removal; and all other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative, sound judgment, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with the public and/or other town employees.
• Perform duties, responsibilities, and activities that may change at any time with or without notice.
