Part‑time Geology Instructor

Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is seeking a part‑time Geology Instructor to teach Geology (GLG) credit courses on campus for upcoming semesters.

Essential Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
• Prepare for and deliver assigned courses using appropriate learning experiences and materials that meet course objectives and program goals.
• Adhere to the course syllabus and comply with assessment protocols.
• Evaluate student progress through day‑to‑day assessment, written examinations, and overall observation.
• Grade assignments meaningfully to promote student growth, return graded work promptly, and assign final grades within institutional deadlines.
• Support student success through guidance, advising, and individual assistance as needed.
• Participate in professional activities, including curriculum planning, examination development, program evaluation, and other planning activities.
• Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
• Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
• Utilize technology, including AI‑enabled tools, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, and professional responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Geology or Geologic Science or related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Geology or Geologic Science disciplines.
• Teaching experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline, including emerging AI‑supported tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent, successful post‑secondary teaching experience in Geology courses.

Hourly Rate

$69.66 per hour (2025–2026 academic year).
