Job summary

Urbandale Middle School in Urbandale, Iowa is seeking a General Education Associate (part-time) to support students throughout the school day, work with small groups, supervise during lunch and recess, and collaborate with teachers and staff to meet student needs.

Under supervision of the building principal, you will reinforce classroom routines, assist with field trips, maintain confidentiality, and help maintain orderly work areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Some experience supervising children preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in hallways, lunchroom, playground, and classroom as needed.
• Work with students on academic skills.
• Assist teacher in supervision of student on field trips.
• Assist classroom teacher and students in cleaning up after special projects.
• Monitor and communicate supply and material needs.
• Assist classroom teacher(s) in maintaining classrooms, supplies, and materials as needed.
• Assist the main office with any projects or assignments as needed.
• Maintain student work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
• Report incidents of an unusual nature to the teacher and principal.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain a reliable attendance record.
• Other duties as assigned.
