Job summary

Savannah Technical College is seeking a Part Time Adult Education Tutor for the Savannah Campus to support GED and ESL students in Math, English/Reading, Science, or Social Studies. The tutor provides tutoring, guidance, and feedback to help students progress and maintains appropriate records.

Under supervision, you will use effective tutoring techniques, discuss student progress with staff, and help create a positive learning environment. Position open until filled.

Qualifications

• Current college student or college graduate with a GPA of 3.0 in the subject area to be tutored from a regionally accredited institution or demonstrated ability in the subject field.
• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area to be tutored is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Tutors adult education GED and ESL students in Math, English/Reading, Science, or Social Studies.
• Demonstrates appropriate tutoring techniques and provides positive feedback.
• Discusses student progress with appropriate staff/faculty.
• Maintains a positive, supportive attitude to encourage learning.
• Maintains appropriate record-keeping and advisement records for each student.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication.
