Job summary

Child & Family Service (CFS) in Hawaii seeks a part-time Intake Specialist (up to 19 hrs/week) to support families and children across intake, assessment, and service planning. Responsibilities include coordinating case forms, collaborating with clinicians, and connecting families to resources. Flexible scheduling and travel within the island are required.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, culturally sensitive practice, and cross-team collaboration, with ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required with ability to carry out duties.
• Minimum two years of supervised work with children or parents.
• Experience with child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse; willingness to work with at-risk families.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake and initiates forms to open case in the program.
• Establishes participant rapport and provides empathetic support.
• Works with Clinical Specialist to conduct initial assessment.
• Develops family service plan focusing on child development goals and reducing stress.
• Administers child development screens and related assessments.
• Maintains contacts with community services relevant to participants.
• Creates action-oriented plans to energize participants to act.
• Provides information and referrals to community resources; transports participants as needed.
• Attends case conferences with other disciplines; maintains confidentiality.
• Participates in staff meetings and trainings, including diversity, abuse prevention, and child development topics.
• Maintains case records, mileage logs, and reports timely; adapts services to family schedules, including evenings/weekends.
