Job summary

IHA in Livonia, MI seeks a dynamic part-time Family Medicine Program Director to lead the residency program, shape curriculum, supervise trainees, and advance clinical excellence while maintaining an active clinical practice.

The role offers diverse teaching opportunities across inpatient and outpatient settings, collaboration with the GMEC and DME, and a focus on building an inclusive, high-performing team dedicated to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Specialty expertise and at least 3 years of educational and/or administrative experience.
• Current certification in the program specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Board of Medical Specialties.
• Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment.
• Ongoing clinical activity.
• Meets annual CME requirements to maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct the program in alignment with community needs and institutional mission.
• Foster a professional, respectful program environment free from discrimination or harassment; promote patient safety and accountability.
• Provide a healthy learning/working environment that supports trainee well-being and open feedback.
• Oversee program activities across sites; appoint site directors for outside training sites.
• Ensure appropriate supervision of trainees based on PGY level and patient complexity.
• Engage in mission-driven recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce.
• Prepare for program reviews and maintain accurate trainee records with the ACGME ADS system.
• Implement Sponsoring Institution's GME policies and due process per ACGME requirements.
• Participate in educational programs for program directors and faculty development.
• Develop a comprehensive curriculum and rotation schedule aligned with curricular requirements.

Education

Board certification in Family Medicine or related specialty
