Job summary

Trinity University is seeking a Part-time Faculty member for the Spring 2027 semester to teach Philosophy of Mind (PHIL-3431-1) and one of the following: Knowledge, Reality, and the Good Life (PHIL-1301-1) or Ethics (PHIL 1354-1).

The candidate will develop syllabi, deliver engaging lectures, assess student work, and maintain office hours in accordance with departmental policies.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or ABD in Philosophy.
• Experience teaching philosophy of mind to undergraduates preferred.
• Non-renewable, one-semester appointment for Spring 2027.
• Mastery of philosophy of mind and ability to design engaging lectures and assignments.

Responsibilities

• Developing the course syllabus and ensuring it meets department and University standards.
• Designing and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments.
• Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.
• Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in line with deadlines.
• Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director.
• Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services.
• Adhering to instructional policies published in the Faculty Handbook.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing the course syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets departmental and University standards
• Designing and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments
• Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
• Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines
• Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director
• Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services
• Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin

Appointment Details

This position is a non-renewable, one-semester appointment.
