We are accepting applications for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in German. This is a Part‑time Faculty Interest Pool; the department will select candidates based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Candidates may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full‑term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications
  • Preferred candidates will hold a Masters of Arts in German.
  • An MAT in German may be considered if accompanied by 30 graduate credit hours in the language, linguistics, literature, and culture. Candidates holding a Master of Arts in a related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in German may also be considered.
  • Native or near native ability (to be assessed through a proficiency interview).
  • One year of previous college teaching experience in a related subject is required.
  • Teaching ability as evidenced by vita and support materials.
  • Recent completion of a 3‑credit graduate level course on college‑level Second Language Teaching Methods/Methodology for German (or required completion of such a course during the first term of employment at PCC).

Note Regarding Academic Credentials
  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of the offer date for degrees required in the Instructor Qualifications.
  • Instructors must have earned the required academic credentials at a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a foreign institution with an equivalent accreditation. Credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Part‑time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part‑Time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based on the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). For more information, review the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule on PCC’s Compensation page.
