Job summary

PCC Portland Community College is seeking a Part-time Faculty member for the Dental Hygiene program at the Vanport Building in downtown Portland. This role involves teaching PCC courses and contributing to student success and curriculum development.

Eligible candidates must be registered dental hygienists with an active Oregon license and at least three years of clinical experience. Offers are contingent upon residency in Oregon or Washington.

Qualifications

• Current active dental hygiene license in Oregon.
• Minimum of three years of full-time experience as a clinical dental hygienist.
• Experience teaching in a dental hygiene program preferred.
• Oregon Local Anesthesia Endorsement.
• Oregon Nitrous Oxide Permit.
• Minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience or 3500 hours in last 5 years.
• Immunization records up to date.

Position Overview

We are accepting applications for Part‑time Faculty openings for Dental Hygiene at the Vanport Building in downtown Portland, Oregon. The role involves teaching PCC courses in the dental hygiene program, contributing to student success and curriculum development.

Minimum Instructor Qualifications

• Registered Dental Hygienist
• Graduate of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
• Associate degree in Dental Hygiene
• Baccalaureate degree in any field
• Current active dental hygiene license in Oregon
• Current Health Care Provider CPR/BLS
• Oregon Local Anesthesia Endorsement
• Oregon Nitrous Oxide Permit
• Minimum of three years of full‑time experience as a clinical dental hygienist (or equivalent of 3500 hours within the last 5 years)
• Current immunization records: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB Test, Tdap, Influenza, COVID‑19 Vaccination

Preferred Instructor Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a field related to education or dental hygiene
• Experience teaching in a dental hygiene program
• Expanded Practice Permit
• Restorative Functions Endorsement
• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential
• Clinical experience as a dental assistant
• Active membership in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA)

As a new Part‑time Faculty employee, you may be eligible for certain benefits through PCC, such as Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans. Newly hired Part‑time Faculty will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule; hourly rates are determined based on the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
