Galbraith’s Landscaping & Lawn Care in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Part-Time Evening Equipment & Small Engine Mechanic to diagnose and repair commercial lawn equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, keep a clean shop, and ensure machines are ready for the next day’s crews.

The ideal candidate has experience repairing small engines, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Evening availability during the lawn season is important.

Qualifications

• Previous experience repairing small engines or commercial lawn equipment preferred.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability.
• Familiarity with 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines.
• Experience with commercial mowing equipment is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to safely operate tools, jacks, grinders, and shop equipment.
• Ability to lift and move parts and equipment as necessary.
• Must maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial lawn and landscape equipment
• Setup and perform routine preventative maintenance and scheduled services
• Repair and maintain commercial zero-turn and stand-on mowers
• Service small engines, including 2-cycle and 4-cycle equipment
• Repair string trimmers, blowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and similar equipment
• Perform oil changes, filter changes, spark plug replacement, and lubrication
• Sharpen and replace mower blades
• Repair belts, pulleys, bearings, spindles, cables, wheels, and related components
• Diagnose electrical, starting, fuel, and engine performance problems
• Inspect equipment for developing problems before they cause breakdowns
• Keep commonly needed parts, fluids, filters, blades, and maintenance supplies organized
• Develop and maintain a clean and organized shop and work area
• Document repairs and notify management when equipment requires additional parts or major repairs
• Help ensure repaired equipment is ready for use by the following workday
