Job summary

Delaware Technical Community College – Seaford Innovation Center is seeking a Public Safety Officer I for evening and occasional Friday shifts. The position is part-time with hours Monday-Thursday 4-9 p.m., may change based on operational needs.

Responsible for campus safety, incident response, and public safety operations. The incumbent will work under the on-duty supervisor, performing patrols, investigations support, crisis intervention, and reports.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred.
• Two (2) years of relevant experience OR two (2) years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces with honorable/general discharge.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license, as issued by the Dept. of Public Safety.
• Willing to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
• Must maintain certifications in handcuffs, OC spray, and CPR/First Aid/AED within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols campus buildings and grounds to ensure safety compliance.
• Assist in investigations of violations and preserve crime scenes.
• Initiate levels of physical intervention per Use of Force Policy.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with authorities.
• Attend meetings and seminars related to campus public safety.
• Coordinate environmental controls and alternate room assignments as needed.
• Maintain logs and prepare routine investigation reports.
• Support evening class transitions for students and instructors.
• Provide first level crisis intervention and de-escalation.
• Conduct courier services and transport sensitive documents.
