Job summary

Kentucky State University seeks qualified part-time/adjunct faculty to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) courses on an as-needed basis. Adjunct faculty provide high-quality instruction to students with varying levels of English proficiency through online and/or in-person course delivery.

Responsibilities include course preparation, classroom instruction, student assessment, academic advising related to course success, maintenance of academic records, and compliance with university

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in TESOL, TESL, Applied Linguistics, English, Education, or a closely related field.
• At least one year of experience teaching English language learners in higher education, adult education, or a comparable instructional setting.
• Experience teaching students with varying English language proficiency levels.
• Experience using instructional technology and learning management systems.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned ESL courses in person and/or online, as assigned, using instructional methods appropriate for the course delivery format.
• Prepare, organize, and deliver instructional materials that support course objectives and student learning outcomes.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans, instructional activities, and assessments for varying levels of English proficiency.
• Provide students with an approved course syllabus outlining learning objectives, instructional methods, and policies.
• Assess student learning through assignments, exams, presentations, and projects, with timely feedback.
• Utilize Canvas and other university instructional technologies to manage course materials, grades, and communication.
