Job summary

Houston City College in Houston seeks a dedicated tutor to directly assist students by asking and answering questions and providing subject-related examples. You will tutor all students in various settings, use examples to explain concepts, and provide academic support services and progress tracking throughout the semester.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of relevant work experience in the related academic area.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Must be well organized, task-oriented and flexible.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a large multicultural environment.
• Must be able to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Tutor all students in any setting, including college-level academic transfer courses.
• Ask and answer academic questions, using examples relating to a particular subject.
• Provide analytic and diagnostic services for students increasing affective work results.
• Process new students assuring individuals’ learning needs are met.
• Provide support services required during semester.
• Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials.
• May assist in tracking student performance.
