Job summary

Black Hawk College seeks an Adjunct Faculty/Part-time Instructor for the Engineering Department to support hands-on laboratory instruction and lectures. The role involves developing syllabi, delivering lectures, and evaluating student performance in an engineering technology setting.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering/engineering technology with 2000 hours of related experience; a Master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (or equivalent) with 2000 hours of related experience.
• Master's degree in engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing, or Mechatronics preferred.
• Past instructional experience at an accredited institution is desirable with hands-on industry experience.
• Must possess demonstrated oral English proficiency for classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare syllabi and lectures; develop presentations to enhance learning.
• Develop, administer, and grade student evaluations.
• Maintain equipment and instructional materials for classroom use.
• Instruct in a laboratory environment for analog and digital circuits at component level.
• Explain operation and calibration of closed-loop systems (electro-pneumatic/electro-hydraulic/electro-mechanical).
• Perform simple application programming and I/O interfacing of microcontrollers (e.g., 8051, PIC, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
• Incorporate IIoT concepts and J1939 CANbus applications in relevant courses.
