The EMS Training Assistant will maintain knowledge of all current curriculum knowledge, license or certifications, and awareness of current successful teaching strategies for student success. The EMS Teaching Assistant will maintain communication with all necessary departments and instructors.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*** Complies with College and lead instructor policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, and providing grades on a timely basis.* Complies with all aspects of Board policies and work rules.* Maintains an effective line of communications with students, customer-based clientele, college community members, other full-time faculty, and adjunct faculty members.* Evaluates student performance and provides regular feedback in courses taught.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE*** Minimum of high school education required.* WI EMS licensure at the level of EMS training assistance to be provided in the classroom (with specific experience level) or WI RN licensure (with specific experience level.)* WI EMS licensure – 2 years’ experience as a field EMS provider with a WI-licensed ambulance service or WI RN licensure – 2 years’ experience in a hospital emergency department or 2 years’ experience with an air medical transport service.* Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, various online learning-based program navigation, Workday experience preferred* Educational teaching strategies and motivational techniques for classroom instruction* Ability to learn and use technology and alternative delivery methods, including but not limited to: online instruction and the use of distance education.* Skill in communication and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds and persons with physical and/or learning disabilities.* Skill in oral and written communications.* Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the curriculum.* Ability to work in a team environment is essential.* Ability to work non-standard hours including evening or weekend hours.* Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Districts standard insurance policy terms.*\*\*An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.***Preferred Qualifications:*** Associate Degree in EMS- or health-related field preferred.* Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desirable.**Certifications:**Wisconsin Technical College System Provisional Certification is not required because the EMS training assistant does not participate in direct instructor-to-student cognitive/didactic or psychomotor/practical skills instruction but rather assists with small groups of students in achieving proficiencies in the practical skills portion of EMS training that is coordinated/directed by the lead EMS Instructor I or EMS Instructor II.**Skills and Abilities:*** Student Success: Demonstrate behaviors and actions that support student recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives.* Values: Demonstrate behaviors and action that support the College’s values* Collaboration: Demonstrate behaviors and actions that create respectful environments and services for all, and the ability to work effectively across differences in background and experience.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS*** **Extended Sitting:** Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or attending meetings* **Mobility:** Ability to move around the campus to attend meetings and events* **Manual Dexterity:** Proficiency in using hands and fingers to handle or operate office equipment, tools, or controls.* **Visual and Auditory:** Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.* **Light Lifting:** Capability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.**Reasonable Accommodations Statement** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
