Job summary

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is seeking Part-Time Teaching Assistants for the English Language Learner (ELL) program at the NWTC Marinette Campus. The role supports instructors by working with individuals or small groups, reinforcing content, and helping with digital learning.

Salary is $25.00 per class hour contracted. Flexibility in schedule to cover day, evening, or weekend classes is required, with start date in August 2026.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, linguistics, or a related field.
  • TESOL or TEFL certification preferred.
  • Bi- or multi-lingual, including English and Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow NWTC ELL policies and program procedures.
  • Work with individual English Language Learners or small groups to reinforce lessons.
  • Assist instructors by developing materials matched to students’ levels.
  • Assist ELLs with digital learning in the classroom.
  • Maintain attendance, records, and classroom equipment; uphold confidentiality.

COURSE OFFERINGS: ELL Orientation, ELL Level Classes to include Levels 1-4

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • FollowtheNWTCELLHandbook policiesandprogram procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to English Language programmingas part of the Wisconsin Technical College System.

  • Work with individual English Language Learnersor small groups of ELLs to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced byinstructors.

  • Assist the instructorin devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual ELLs, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match students’ English proficiency levels.

  • Assist ELLs with digital learning in the classroom.

  • Monitor ELLs attitudes and encourage confidence; notify the ELL instructor of any specific concerns.

  • Assist English Language Learners in understanding academic language, content, instructions, and expectations, under the directionthe instructor.

  • Perform various clerical duties as needed, maintain records of student progress;check daily attendance; make copies;maintain and operate the classroom equipment; maintain class files.

  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of instructors.

  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Participate in professional development to support the English Language Learner program.

  • Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute instructor assigned in absence of the ELL instructor.

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the ELL instructors and/or Associate Dean.

  • Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.

  • Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.

  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.

  • Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be discussed as needs arise.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, linguistics, or a related field
