Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator for its after-school program in Minnesota and Virginia. You will help run daily activities, deliver kid-friendly curricula, and foster a safe, engaging environment for children after school hours.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience with children under 13, can lift 25 lbs, and are committed to inspiring a love of learning. Flexible scheduling includes Monday–Friday with afternoon shifts.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience working with children under 13 years old.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living.
• First Aid and CPR – in person.
• Tuberculosis test cleared.
• Proof of MMR vaccination.
• Proof of High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Review daily goals and updates in daily program meetings.
• Prepare and lead activities and curriculum aligned with program objectives.
• Create a safe, nurturing environment and model positive guidance.
• Monitor safety, document attendance and incidents as required.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Educator Pay Rate:

$16.00-$18.00 (based on education and experience)

Program Hours

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Afternoon shift: 02:30 PM-06:00 PM

This role may be scheduled for up to 17.5 hours per week.

You’ll Drive The Mission By

• Daily Program Meetings: Each day, review goals and updates, share ideas, discuss professional progress, encourage collaboration, and team accountability.
• Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: Prepare activities and curriculum for the day, ensuring they align with the program’s objectives. Organize and lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum; that are both educational and enjoyable for all ages.
• Leading by Example: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children are enjoying themselves while also meeting program goals. You will achieve this by modeling positive guidance and effective classroom management.
• Prioritize Safety and Joy: Monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow all safety protocols. These may include documenting attendance, incidents, and other observations.
• Communication: Effective communication with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Ideal Candidates Will Have The Following

• Outstanding customer service and relationship‑building skills
• Works well in a team environment
• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age (add preferred if this is not a requirement)
• Ability to lift 25lbs
• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living
• Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed

Virginia Requirements

• Ability to meet state-specific requirements;
• First Aid and CPR-in-person
• Cleared tuberculosis test
• Proof of MMR
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
