Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator to work with kids in the Addison School District, providing before and after school programs. You will lead activities, supervise students, and support learning in a structured environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of child-centered experience, strong communication skills, and reliability for a consistent part-time schedule. This role offers a flexible AM/PM shift and growth within a national education program.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred).
• Excellent customer service and communication with children and adults.
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a part-time schedule.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students; take attendance and keep records.
• Lead daily activities and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group.
• Support homework time and assist with academic tasks as needed.
• Supervise during free play, transitions, and snack time in a safe environment.
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up/drop-off about the day.
• Report incidents or safety concerns promptly to program leadership.

Our programs deliver hands-on enrichment activities, homework support, active play, social-emotional learning, and more - all guided by a mission to inspire a love of learning, support schools, and give families peace of mind.

As an Educator, you'll work directly with kids - leading activities, facilitating a safe and structured environment, and building relationships - while gaining valuable experience in education and child development.

In short, your influence will shape kids' futures, helping them develop the skills they need to thrive in school, at home, and beyond.

Pay Rate: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: Before School, 6:45 am - 8:30 am (until 9:30 am on Mondays) and After School, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm*

Location: Working with schools within the Addison School District

What You'll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you're working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred)
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with both children and adults
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and hands-on CPR
• Cleared tuberculosis (TB) test
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Background Check with fingerprinting
