Job summary

Cook County ISD is seeking an ECFE Paraprofessional for 1 hour on Friday mornings in Grand Portage to support instructional activities and assist a certified staff member with parent education and supervision of children.

Under supervision, you will assist with reinforcing child development goals, work with students in small groups, help prepare materials, and assist with record-keeping and classroom safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two year college degree or ParaPro Exam preferred.
• Prior experience working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce child development goals and activities.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
• Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises.
• Assist in classroom preparations.
• Assist with record-keeping procedures.
• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and ensure a safe and orderly environment.
• Construct, copy and distribute and use educational materials as needed.
• Assist teacher with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in ECFE activities.
• Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to with ECFE activities to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to support the certified professional employee with parent education and the supervision of children.

Essential Job Functions
