Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Teach private drum lessons and/or group classes to students of varying ages, abilities, and musical backgrounds.
• Develop engaging lesson plans balancing technique, rhythmic literacy, musical expression, and repertoire.
• Teach drumming skills including coordination, timing, dynamics, groove, reading rhythms, and improvisation.
• Introduce students to styles and traditions such as rock, blues, jazz, folk, Latin, African, Brazilian, and other percussion traditions.
• Encourage creativity, active listening, collaboration, and musical independence.
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and goals.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment for beginners and experienced musicians.
• Prepare students for informal performances, recitals, ensembles, and community events when appropriate.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, colleagues, and staff.
• Collaborate with other faculty and participate in relevant programs and events.
• Maintain a safe, organized instructional environment.
