Job summary

Franklin Park in San Antonio, TX, seeks a driver to safely transport residents on routine shopping, appointments and activities. You will observe safety regulations, assist residents and maintain clean, well‑running vehicles.

Requirements include a high school education and preferred Class B CDL; DOT training is a plus and a good driving record is essential. Bilingual abilities are a plus, and lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety regulations at all times.
• Schedule routine preventative maintenance for vehicles.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, inside and out.
• Assist residents before and during outings to ensure safety.
• Keep records and schedules of resident requests.
• Calculate group trip costs and forward billing paperwork to Business Office.
• Record mileage and maintain vehicle logs.
• Track gas purchases and submit bills to supervisor.
• Maintain First Aid kit and report incidents as required.
• Exhibit courteous, helpful demeanor to residents and team members.
• Ensure residents are buckled in during transportation.

Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Safely transports residents on routine scheduled shopping excursions, appointments, Life Enrichment activities, and other outings.

Salary: $16 & $18 hourly

Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Observes safety regulations and requirements at all times
• Schedules routine preventative maintenance for vehicles and keeps vehicles in good repair at all times
• Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicles, inside and out
• Assists in gathering residents before and during outings and ensures the safety of the residents at all times
• Keeps records and schedules of individual resident requests
• Calculates group trip costs, obtains charge paperwork from residents and forwards billing to the Business Office Manager
• Records mileage and maintains vehicle log
• Tracks gas purchases and submits bills to Dir. of Maintenance or supervisor as directed
• Maintains First Aid kit
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by Dir. of Maintenance and/or Dir. of Life Enrichment
• Exhibits a courteous, helpful demeanor at all times to provide attentiveness and respect to our residents and team members
• Helps to ensure that all residents and passengers are safely buckled in their seats when transporting
• Understands protocol in reporting accidents and incidents to proper authorities when necessary
• Understands that talking or texting and using personal music devices while driving is prohibited
• Encourages teamwork and promotes company philosophy
• Attends required community meetings
• Is prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis
• Becomes familiar and understands the steps for fire evacuation
• All employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all community residents

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language and able to communicate effectively. Bi-lingual a plus
• Must be able to load and unload wheelchair-dependent residents in a safe, caring, and courteous manner
• Exceptional knowledge of all aspects of safe driving a must

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a high school education
• Class B /CDL license preferred
• DOT training preferred
• Must have a driving record acceptable to the company insurance carrier

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum one-year experience preferred
• Must possess good driving skills in handling vehicles on wet and/or slippery roads

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, push, climb and/or balance, stoop or kneel up to eight hours a day
  • Frequently support up to 70 pounds
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • Subject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the work day.

Work Schedule:

• Availability every day including weekends
