Job summary

Cox Automotive is hiring a Driver I for its El Paso location. The role involves driving vehicles through auction lanes, transporting units within the auction premises and to customer locations, and ensuring safety while performing basic vehicle prep tasks.

Ideal candidates are dependable, able to work in a team, and have a valid driver’s license. High school diploma and possibly prior auction experience are preferred.

• Ability to operate vehicles with both manual and automatic transmission.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive vehicles through auction lanes on sale days and around auction grounds, following procedures and traffic laws.
• Transport vehicles to and from designated areas, dealerships and business locations providing professional service.
• Stage, organize and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by supervisors.
• Assist in locating misplaced vehicles or moving inventory as needed.
• Prepare vehicles for movement (inflate tires, jump-start vehicles).
• Communicate vehicle issues to relevant teams.
• Provide friendly support to customers, dealers, account reps, rental agencies and coworkers.
• Follow safety procedures and contribute to safety culture.

Work Schedule

Mon/Tues 9am -4 pm, Wed 9am - 6pm, Thurs 9am - 1pm Pay Rate: $13.80

What You’ll Do

• Safely drive vehicles through auction lanes on sale days and throughout auction grounds, following all auction driving procedures, traffic laws and defensive driving practices.
• Transport vehicles to and from designated areas on auction premises, as well as customer dealerships and business locations, providing a professional and courteous experience.
• Stage, organize and park vehicles in the correct order based on direction from supervisors or team leaders.
• Help locate misplaced vehicles or move inventory as needed.
• Prepare vehicles for movement by performing basic tasks such as inflating tires and jump-starting vehicles.
• Communicate vehicle issues to the appropriate teams.
• Provide helpful, friendly support to customers, dealers, account representatives, rental agencies and coworkers.
• Follow all safety and health procedures and actively contribute to a culture of safety excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid driver's license and safe driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED
• Previous auction experience
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to walk long distances
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

This role may involve frequent exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
