United Activities Unlimited, Inc. is seeking a part-time Custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance at our Staten Island site. The role focuses on sanitizing all areas, maintaining a safe environment for participants and staff, and following OSHA and state safety guidelines.

The position requires 18+ years of age, a high school diploma or equivalent, and knowledge of safe cleaning practices. Prior janitorial experience in childcare or school settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 18 years or older at time of hire.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Preferred: OSHA certification.
• Preferred: at least 1 year janitorial experience in childcare, school, or community center.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning of offices, bathrooms, kitchens, gym, classrooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and maintain floors; strip and wax as directed.
• Inspect and document routine maintenance tasks; assist with minor repairs.
• Handle garbage removal and restock restrooms, kitchens, and breakrooms.
• Adhere to safety procedures for chemical cleaners and equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify management when major repairs or maintenance are needed.
• Maintain organized janitor’s room and stock cleaning supplies.
• Clean windows and hard surfaces requiring sanitizing.
