Job summary

Crossroads YMCA is seeking a part-time Custodian in Griffith, IN to keep the facility clean, safe, and welcoming for members and the community. The role involves independent work and teamwork to maintain restrooms, common areas, floors, and equipment throughout shifts.

You’ll follow cleaning schedules, report hazards, and support seasonal needs while staying active and detail-oriented in a fast-paced YMCA environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Six months or more of related custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand cleaning instructions, procedures, manuals, and safety information.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to other Crossroads YMCA branches within Lake County as needed.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, floors, and other spaces.
• Mop, vacuum, dust, and restock supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness around exercise areas and equipment.
• Follow daily cleaning schedules and safety procedures.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
