Job summary

Cox Automotive in the United States is seeking a Lot Operations Specialist II for our vehicle operations team. The role involves orienting new drivers, directing work flow, and ensuring accurate vehicle movement across the lot.

Key duties include coordinating with lot managers on moves, leading lanes on sale days, and maintaining vehicle logs, while enforcing safety and company policies to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years related work experience, OR any degree above HS + 1 year related work experience, OR 5 years related work experience.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Orient and instruct new drivers regarding their job duties and assist supervisor in assigning and directing the work of employees.
  • Communicate with supervisor to assure proper flow of vehicles and maintain log of stock numbers for each vehicle moved and its lot location.
  • Communicate schedules and assignments to the crew members.
  • Serve as lane leader on sale days.
  • Coordinate move requirements with lot manager and quadrant coordinator.
  • Assist supervisor in staging lease lanes and pre-sales.
  • Manage vans and transporting drivers to locations.
  • Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of employees and vehicles by transporting them according to schedule.
  • Shuttle employees to and from auxiliary parking lots on sale days; provide transportation to employees parking inventoried vehicles at remote sites.
  • Pick-up and drop-off employees and other Auction personnel to/from the Auction, parking lots, dealerships, customer locations/businesses, and other locations.
  • Perform daily maintenance and routine checks of the van and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and support Safety Excellence activities.
  • Review work volumes with manager and plan staffing to ensure efficiency and quality service.
  • Lead the team at the location by modeling Cox/Manheim values and respectful conduct.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

  • Pick-up and drop-off employees and other Auction personnel to/from the Auction, parking lots, dealerships, customer locations/businesses, and other locations.
  • Perform daily maintenance and routine checks of the van and clean and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Work in cooperation with Market Safety Manager in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Work with manager to review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
  • Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: High School Diploma/GED plus 3 years of related work experience, OR any degree or certification above a High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of related work experience, OR 5 years of related work experience.
  • Safe Drivers needed; Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying (i.e., flat tires, low gas, jump starting vehicles.).
  • Required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear, vision abilities required to include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
Preferred
  • Preferred: 6 months auction or driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout preferred.
  • Knowledge of LDM preferred.
Work Environment
  • Constant exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise level.
