Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago's Malcolm X College seeks part-time Continuing Education Lecturers to teach CPR, BLS, First Aid, AED, ACLS, and PALS to adult learners and healthcare professionals. Courses may be on campus, days, evenings, or weekends.

The instructor will deliver hands-on, standards-based instruction, assess skills, maintain records, and comply with AHA guidelines and college policies. Compensation ranges from $25 to $40 per hour, depending on course level.

Qualifications

• Current instructor-level credential for the assigned course (e.g. BLS Instructor, CPR Instructor, Heartsaver Instructor).
• Current provider-level CPR/BLS certification, as applicable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of CPR, AED use, BLS, first aid for adults, children, and infants.
• Experience teaching, training, coaching, or assessing hands-on skills.
• Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse adult learners.
• Ability to follow certification, documentation, safety, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach CPR, BLS, First Aid, AED, and related emergency response courses per approved outlines and AHA requirements.
• Demonstrate and supervise hands-on CPR, AED, and related skills for adults, children, and infants.
• Deliver engaging, skills-based instruction for adult learners.
• Assess student performance through skills checks, demonstrations, and assessments.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and organized learning environment.
• Follow AHA curriculum, course documentation, and college procedures.
• Maintain attendance, rosters, certification, and course completion records.
• Communicate with College staff regarding course needs and student concerns.
