Job summary

Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty members to provide high-quality instruction and student support in alignment with the District's mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence. Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s or higher with 2 years of related experience, or an Associate degree

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the discipline.
• Associate Degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to the discipline.
• Equivalent qualifications as allowed by the district.
• Understanding of and respect for diverse backgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Deliver inclusive, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for diverse students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District’s learning management system and other instructional technologies.
• Comply with District policies, bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and regulations.
• Participate in department meetings and professional development for part-time faculty.

Class Purpose

Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-TimeFaculty members to provide high-quality instruction and studentsupport in accordance with the District's mission of advancingequity, student success, and academic excellence. Part-time facultyare responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive instruction thatpromotes student learning and achievement while supporting thediverse educational goals of the District's students.

Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day,evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of theDistrict's colleges.

Examples of Duties

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved courseoutlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instructionusing evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials,assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable mannerand maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by establisheddeadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learningenvironment for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respondpromptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District's learning management system and otherinstructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with District policies, collective bargainingagreements, accreditation standards, and applicable federal andstate regulations.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development,and other college activities as appropriate for part-timefaculty.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of any Bachelor’s Degree or higher AND two years ofprofessional experience directly related to the discipline; OR
• Possession of any Associate Degree AND six years ofprofessional experience directly related to the discipline; OR

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as established bythe California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Applicantsare required to demonstrate that they meet the minimumqualifications by submitting official or unofficial transcripts andproviding a complete and detailed record of relevant professionalwork experience in their application materials.

The District will review education and work history to determinewhether minimum qualifications are met. Determinations are made inaccordance with Title 5 regulations and District procedures.Official transcripts and additional verification of employmentwill be required upon offer of employment.

For disciplines requiring a degree and professional experience,applicants must clearly describe how their education and workexperience meet the stated minimum qualifications.

Equivalency

Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications exactly mayapply for equivalency. Equivalency determinations are made througha separate review process in accordance with Districtprocedures.
