Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks NOVA Workforce Adjunct faculty to plan and teach construction pathway courses. The role involves face-to-face, remote, and online formats with load based on enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct contract carries no guarantee of continued employment.

The candidate will prepare materials, deliver engaging instruction, manage classes, and maintain records and safety in teaching spaces, following college policies and ethics.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of computer applications and the ability to use computer for providing class presentation.
• Ability to communicate complex subjects in a clear and engaging way.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population.
• Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on, guided, differentiated instruction to students enrolled in the courses, as specified in the schedule and course contract.
• Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
• Conduct efficient and effective classroom management.
• Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the institution, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
• Use the institution's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students, in a timely manner.
• Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles and provide interesting and engaging assignments that demonstrate the real‑world applications of concepts covered.
• Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, and submit class rosters and grade sheets by the deadlines established by the department.
• Maintains a hazard free environment and practices safety in lab(s) or classroom.
• Adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
