Job summary

The Teaching Zoo at Santa Fe College is seeking an energetic Instructional Specialist for Conservation Education. You will guide students in the Zoo Animal Technology Program, interact with ambassador animals, and present programs at community venues.

You will create lesson plans, lead virtual and on-site education activities, plan events, and support public engagement while maintaining professional standards and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Zoo Animal Technology or related degree.
• Two years of public presentation/education experience.
• Combination of education and/or experience equal to four years.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in the Zoo Animal Technology Program and provide feedback.
• Work with ambassador animals and maintain trained behaviors.
• Present education programs and tabling for off-campus outreaches.
• Give virtual presentations to schools, libraries, and facilities.
• Create lesson plans and activities for educational programs.
• Assist planning events like Party for the Planet and Zookeeper Day.
• Facilitate animal encounters with the public.
• Assist in graphics and interactive displays with the curator.
• Facilitate birthday parties on weekends as needed.
• Share procedures and ERP knowledge for operations as needed.
