Job summary

The Florida Aquarium is seeking a Part-Time Commissary Technician I to prepare animal diets for the living collection. You will support the commissary, collaborate with team members, and ensure high standards of food handling practices in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities include following USDA/AZA guidelines, maintaining sanitary conditions, and delivering exceptional service to guests and staff. Must be able to work a minimum of 28 hours per week and flexible weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in food handling, preparation, and warehouse activities in a zoo or aquarium preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment for diet preparation ( grinders, knife sharpeners, blenders, scales, mixers, hand trucks, pallet jacks, knives, hot plate).
• Able to work in coolers (35°F to 40°F) and freezers (<0°F) for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare animal diets accurately and efficiently for the living collection.
• Follow USDA and AZA standards for food handling and maintaining live food cultures.
• Maintain safe and sanitary commissary conditions and proper storage of items.
• Provide excellent customer service to aquarium guests and internal teams.
