Job summary

Coast Community College District is seeking part-time/temporary faculty to provide instruction across transfer, GE, and vocational programs. Applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County and be prepared for a pool of part-time, hourly assignments.

Minimum qualifications include a credential or specific degree combinations, with preference for recent community college teaching experience and subject-matter expertise.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the listed qualification options (a–d) or equivalency.
• Evidence of sensitivity to and the ability to manage the classroom environment with diverse student groups.
• Desirable: recent community college or lower division teaching experience.
• Desirable: expertise and professional experience in the field of the course to be taught.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online and/or off-campus classes.

Education

Valid California Community College instructor credential

Master's degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics

Bachelor's degree in physics or astronomy AND master's degree in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics

Equivalent education and experience (Equivalency)
