Job summary

Kern Community College District is seeking part-time adjunct instructors for an adjunct pool to staff positions as needed for the 2025-2026 academic year. The starting salary is $67.00/hour and may vary based on assignment and LHE formula.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree AND two years of coaching experience.
• Associate degree AND six years of experience OR – the equivalent.
• Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education.
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the forementioned AND Master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.
• Equivalency as determined by the Equivalency Committee may be considered in lieu of minimum qualifications.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate depth of knowledge in the discipline.
• Demonstrate ability to work with students with diverse skills, motivations, academic and vocational goals.
• Develop curriculum, including delivery via different modalities.
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain subject matter currency.
• Assess student learning outcomes.
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies to benefit the program.
• Commitment to the California community college mission.
