Job summary

Virginia Western Community College is seeking part-time Medical Administrative Assistant Instructors to teach in Roanoke, with classes in the main campus and potential remote work as needed. Instructors will cover CMAA exam prep, deliver the established curriculum, monitor progress, and manage attendance and grades.

Primary scheduling includes weekday evenings and weekends; candidates should have healthcare experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be a medical assistant or medical front office staff member with at least one year of experience performing medical administrative assistant tasks.
• Associates degree in a related healthcare field.
• All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teach students in classroom and skills lab settings to prepare for CMAA exam.
• Deliver established course curriculum and monitor student progress.
• Troubleshoot classroom technical issues and track equipment usage and inventory.
• Assess students for content mastery and skills proficiency; maintain attendance and grades per policies.
• Assist with content development and curriculum.
