Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Center for Advanced Health Clinic in Richmond, VA is hiring a part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide direct, age-specific care under physician orders. Weekday daytime hours, 20 hours per week, with rotation across shifts as needed.

Requires CMA certification and strong organizational and communication skills. Experience in primary care or academic health system is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Medical Assistant certification from a recognized national body.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year CMA experience in last 3 years if not a program graduate.
• Proficient with computers and standard software.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: 2–3 years CMA experience in an academic health setting.
• Current BLS HCP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-specific care under physician orders.
• Support nursing staff and clinic operations on site.
• Document patient care in the electronic health record system.
• Assist with medications and related supplies as needed.
• Rotate shifts and schedules with Nurse Manager/Practice Manager as required.
