Job Description

Chamberlain College of Nursing is seeking Part‑Time Clinical Nursing Faculty to teach in the BSN Nursing program located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

As a clinical instructor you will mentor inpatient BSN students in an Indianapolis area clinical setting. Your role is to connect classroom concepts and simulation training to real‑world patient care, ensuring students are well prepared and confident for professional practice.

No teaching experience is required, though nurses with solid clinical experience and a completed MSN are encouraged to apply.

Scheduling
  • Schedule is determined by course need and the specialty for each 8‑week session.
  • Typical assignments involve 3–4 consecutive 12‑hour shifts, spread over 1–2 weeks per session.
  • Additional teaching dates may not be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
    • Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
    • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
    • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
  • Student Evaluation and Support
    • Develop and post written clinical assignments that align with students’ knowledge base and skill competency.
    • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance based on course objectives.
    • Be available for remediation of students as required.
    • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Clinical Coordination
    • Maintain current knowledge of clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of site personnel.
    • Post written clinical assignments consistent with student learning needs.
    • Maintain visibility and availability to staff and students at the clinical site.
  • Program and College Development
    • Contribute to development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
    • Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and departmental and campus policies.
    • May teach simulation/skills lab or didactic course content under supervision of a course coordinator.
  • Professionalism and Collaboration
    • Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Use relationship skills in group problem‑solving, consensus building, and negotiation.
    • Work with administration and colleagues to improve overall operation of the college and student satisfaction.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
    • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
    • Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
    • Report to the dean or assistant dean with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Handle related duties and perform other duties as assigned while complying with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Unencumbered professional RN nursing license in Indiana.
  • Illinois RN license required for courses prioritized to Illinois‑licensed faculty.
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years of recent professional nursing experience in an instructional role.
Additional Information

Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position – Online: The expected compensation rate ranges from $715 to $1,950 per earned credit hour, depending on education and experience. Compensation may be adjusted based on factors such as course type, experience, training, location, licensure, certifications, market, departmental budgets, and responsibilities. Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position – Campus: The expected compensation rate ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education and experience. Compensation may be adjusted with the same factors as above. The Talent Acquisition Team is available for salary inquiries.
