Job summary

University of New Mexico is seeking a part-time Programmer Analyst 1 to support clinical data preparation for research at the Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque. The role involves gathering data needs, developing queries, and ensuring data privacy and security.

Under supervision, you will extract and clean data from multiple sources, document data definitions and procedures, and collaborate with researchers and informatics staff to fulfill data requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data mining and extraction from clinical databases and EHRs using SQL, BI tools, and other approved technologies.
• Prepare research datasets by cleaning, transforming, linking, combining, and merging data from multiple sources in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
• Apply de-identification methods to protect privacy.
• Perform routine quality assurance to evaluate data completeness, validity, reproducibility, and consistency; document findings and elevate complex issues.
• Meet with faculty, staff, and students to gather study questions and data needs; translate requests into clear specifications, deliverables, and documented work requirements.
• Maintain documentation of data definitions, query logic, methods, decisions, limitations, and deliverables; contribute to request-tracking and version-control processes.
• Follow HIPAA, IRB, data-use and institutional requirements governing access, storage, transmission, and use of clinical and research data.
• Develop familiarity with evolving clinical data resources and informatics procedures; provide team support within the assigned schedule; participate in meetings and training.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
